I haven't been to New York for three years, but every day I read about it in the New York Times. Now its mobile app is available free of charge for Russians, where the latest city news is posted, and in a very attractive form at that - many articles are narrated by authors, there are lots of interactive graphics and videos, and I just get high from the electronic version of the newspaper! My last G8 English club meeting was made of their scoops.

  • "There are so many immigrants in New York City that many hotels in the heart of Manhattan have been given to them."
  • "The flow of new immigrants is not stopping and the authorities are going to place them in tents in the famous Central Park."
  • "Since 2021, there is a persistent smell of marijuana in the city because it has been legalized."

Reading and listening to the latest news in English and discussing it further in the speaking club allows me to learn and maintain my language level without leaving Sochi.
